Contrary to reports that the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has been stopped by a Port Harcourt High Court from contesting the PDP primary, there is a glimmer of hope for the governor as a legal interpretation creates a window of opportunity for the governor to actualise his intent.
Justice Obile had granted interim injunction to the plaintif one of the aspirants in the Edo gubernatorial primaries Omeregie Ogbeide-Ihama restraining the National Chairman of the PDP Uche Secondus, The chairman of the Screening committee for Edo Elections, Kingsley Chinda from allowing Governor Obaseki to purchase forms for the primary.
However legal analysts have said that the injunction by the Port Harcourt High Court did not stop Obaseki from contesting the primary but argued that the court was magnanimous in granting accelerated hearing of the case.
The case was adjourned to June 24 2020.
