A brown bear in the ltalian region of Trentino has been sentenced to death following attacks on a Man and his son last Monday.
According to reports, Fabio Misseroni 59 and his son Christian Misseroni were hiking on Mount Peller when the bear appeared on their path and attacked the son on his leg.
The report further said that Fabio who saw the animal attacking his son jumped on its back so that his son could escape .The son escaped but his father was not so lucky as the animal pounced on him and broke his legs . it only ran away when the son of the man distracted it by jumping and clapping his hands
It was gathered that after the attack, Trentino governor Maurizio Fugatti signed a cull order allowing for the capture and kill of the bear.
identification of the sentenced bear would be done by DNA from samples collected from its saliva and fur left in the claw and bite wounds on the clothes of Fabio and his son .
Meanwhile reactions have greeted the death sentence passed on the bear by Trentino governor.

Italian animal rights group, Animalist Italiani and the World Wide Fund For Nature had called on the local authorities to stay execution on the death sentence until a full investigation has been carried out. .
Reports indicated that nearly 15 thousand people had signed a petition to save the bear.
