A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday presided by Justice Anwuli Chikere has dismissed a suit filed against the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
The suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/553/2020 was filed by Edobor Williams, Ugbesia Abudu Godwin and Amedu Dauda Amakhu accused Obaseki of forging his Bachelor of Arts Certificate. In classical studies from the University of Ibadan.
They claimed that the offence contravenes section 182 (1)(1) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended which therefore makes the governor not qualified to seek the office of the office of Edo State in the forthcoming governorship election.
The plaintiffs prayed the court to hold that Obaseki is not qualified to run or seek election to the office of the governor of Edo State in the forthcoming 2020 governorship elections.

Following the development, Justice Chikere proceeded to strike out the suit
Governor Obaseki was disqualified by the defunct All Progressives Congress Screening Committee for discrepancies in the cerifificates the governor presented ,.This made him to seek renewed mandate on the Peoples Démocratie Party Platform.
Dismissal of the suit against the governor by the court has set the path clean and clear for Obaseki to participate in the Edo governorship election
