13 ex-militant groups under the aegis of Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators( CNDA,) said they have withdrawn the ceasefire agreement it reached with the federal government because of the President administration’s refusal to meet their demands.
Some or their demands are’ The Sack of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, dissolution of the Interim Management Committee of the NDDC and addressing the issues of marginalisation in terms of appointments in the oil and gas sector.
The CNDA position is contained in a press Statement on Wednesday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital and delivered to newsmen.
The ex-militant groups had agreed to a ceasefire following the establishment of the Federal Government Amnesty Programme for the Niger Delta by Late President Umaru Yar Adua in June 2009.
The ex-militant have said that they had called the government attention to the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC over massive corruption under the Minister’s supervision but government had refused to give in to their demand leaving them with no other option than to back off from the ceasefire agreement they signed.
