The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested a Man alleged to have raped an 8yr old girl.
Reports say that the incident took place at NIIT Road, Biogbolo in Yenegoa, the Bayelsa State Capital.
The suspect was accused by neighbours of spending the night with the little girl in his house , They were said to have contacted the police and the chairperson of an advocate group that protect the girl child against violence, DO Foundation,Mrs Ogbise Erhisere for attention and arrest.
It was gathered that Erhisere mobilised civil society groups to the scene to secure the arrest of the suspect.
The Suspect however denied any wrong doing and said he had no evii intention towards the girl other than offer her accommodation as both of them slept separately
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state confirmed the incident and said investigation was ongoing.
