
Lagos State Government says it has earmarked 100 houses across the state for demolition.
Physical Planning and Urban Development Commissioner,Dr Chris Salako said government would enforce the law on demolition of houses that failed integrity test.
Salako made this known during a visit to the site of a collapsed 3 storey building Saturday morning, on Freeman street,Lagos Island.
He said ‘When we capture a building as distressed, people need to be moved out immediately which we have been doing .However, when you move them out,they will still come back after the officers from these emergency management agencies leave’
He blamed collapse of building to the greed of developers who economise building materials for maximum gain.
Three persons are dead,nine rescued and are receiving treatment following the collapse of the building and nine , The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency said
