The management of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKDC) has described as tragic and unfortunate the death of an unknown person who attempted to steal electricity cable belonging to the company on Wednesday along Oshodi/Apapa Expressway,Lagos.
In view of this, the company has warmed the general public to steer clear of all the electrical installations and equipment.
The General Manager, Corporate Communications of the EKDC,Godwin Idemudia disclosed this to newsmen in a statement on Wednesday.
He said”We have warned, advised and begged all and sundry to steer clear of our equipment whether high tension or not as they are very dangerous.”
“Even as staff in the electricity industry,lam not authourised to tamper with or go near our electricity installations as iam not trained to do so”
According to him, only the company”s authorised engineers are allowed to work on any electrical installation within their network.
He said his Organisation priotised safety measures to protect customers,staff and to guard against loss of property and life.
“As a safety measure,our Health, Safety and Environment team has isolated the incident location and the matter has also been reported to the appropriate authority.”
