The House of Representatives panel investigating allegations of financial recklessness in the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC has asked the Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs Senator Godswill Akpabio,to appear before it on Monday, July 20,2020, to make to testify on his role in the activities of the NDDC
The House of Representatives also summoned the Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Kemebradikumo Pondei, to appear before it on the same day to answer questions concerning allegations of financial impropriety of the Commission under his watch.
The probe of the NDDC gets deeper as more revelations were brought to the fore on Friday.
A non governmental Organization,Act For Positive Transformation Initiative said that reports of a forensic audit on activities of the NDDC is fake and unfounded as there has not been any since the pronouncement was made
Appearing before the House Panel on the NDDC,
Head of Research of the Organisation,Kolawale Johnson, said that his team conducted an investigation into the purported forensic audit but found out that none existed.
He recounted alleged massive corruption in the Commission one of which was the non payment of school fees for students studying abroad.
He alleged that monies meant to pay the fees of students were diverted to personal accounts of some members of the Interim Management Committee of the NDDC.
Johnson said the condition of the students in various institutions outside the country is worrisome and asked the National Assembly to quickly intervene.
