A 42 year old officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Oluwafemi Emmanuel was on Friday ordered by a court in Lagos to be remanded in a correctional facility for allegedly stabbing a police Inspector Edward Ngbekem to death.
A chief Magistrate Court in Ebute Meta,Lagos State, presided over by F.M Kayode Alamu who gave the order did not take the plea of Emmanuel ,but directed that he should be remanded in Ikoyi Custodial center pending legal advice and adjourned the case to August 15.
The Prosecuting counsel Inspector Olatunde Kehinde had alleged that the NSCDC Officer committed the offence on May 24 at 10 okotie Eboh Street,Ikoyi.
He further alleged that Emmanuel used a Jack knife to stab Inspector Edward Ngbekem in the chest during a disagreement.
The offence according to him,contravened the provisions of section 223 of the criminal law of Lagos State, which prescribes a death sentence for the convict.
