The House of Representatives Public Hearing on the NDDC on Monday experienced a near fatal case and adjourned for 30minutes following health challenges of the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei.
Earlier the panel had asked Pondei to explain how the sum of N1,5billion was spent on what he referred to as” We used it to take care of ourselves”. Ponder said the Commission spent the sum of N1.3billion contrary to reports and that he made the remark as an expression of anger.
Pondei said the Commission received remittances from the federal government and oil companies
“We get about N 6.4billion monthly which stopped in June,we have not got any thing since then.
Answering questions on how the sum of about N600million was approved and allocated, to the said Clear Point Communication,
He said,”It was part of the N2.5billion forensic audit
out of which about N1.2 was approved and out of that I think N,318million was approved for the lead forensic auditors”
“Money was paid to Clear Point Communication for variety of purposes all related to the forensic audit.There are 185 local government areas, and each of them was budgeted for N3.46million.One, Allowances for coordinators per local government area, Training for the coordinators, Setting up of information desks for the coordinators.
“This Coordinators are the people to identify the sites of all the projects in the NDDC areas “
