Moxambican firm,Fabrica de Explosives Mocambique,(FEM), an Explosive Manufacturing company had said that they were the ones who originally ordered the ammonium nitrate that was left at Beirut’s port for nearly seven years.
According to the company, the order,was made for manufacturing explosives for mining companies in Mozambique.
A Spokeswoman for the company told newsmen that the product never made it to Mozambique but rather kept in a container at Beirut’s port for almost 7 years before exploding earlier on Tuesday.
The explosion in Beirut,the Lebanese capital left more than 100 dead, injured at least 3000 and displaced over 200,000 people.
According to the report, shipment of Ammonium nitrate which exploded began in Georgia,in September 2013 where it was produced and was transported on the Russian ship,Rhosus,.It docked in Beirut, where the chemical compound had been in storage for close to 7 years.
The Mozambique company was informed by the trading company that there was a problem with the vessel and then the order will not be delivered so they never paid for as it’s was not delivered so they made an order of a new consignment which was delivered.
