Protesting indigenes of Kaduna State say they are fed up with the spate of killing in Southern Kaduna.
To this end, they solicit for a state of their own to avoid the trouble of being attacked and killed at will.
Among the protesters was a woman,despaired by the ongoing killing who couldn’t hide her tears on camera saying” It is quite disheartening, we want to break away from Kaduna State,we want to break away because this thing keep continuing.it is devastating”
The angry protesters said that some young protesters were arrested by the Kaduna State government because they came out to tell the government that”Enough is Enough”
According to the protesters, anytime there is an attack, the people who are affected by it and come out to protest are the ones arrested by the government saying they have had enough.
Southern Kaduna had in the past weeks been under siege by gunmen whose motive some indigenes of the area say was to annihilate the aborigines and occupy their lands.
Report has it that more than two hundred persons have been killed by gunmen in recently.
Last Wednesday, gunmen invaded 5 Southern Kaduna villages and killed 33 people in the killings that have been going on in the southern part of the state but Police account stated otherwise.
According to police spokesman, Muhammad Jalige, the attacks affected 4 villages and killed 22 persons.
The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union ( ,SOKAPU) in a statement by its spokesman,Luka Binniyat said that 33 villagers died and that five communities and not four were attacked..
The statement said on Wednesday night,33 Atyab natives who were among hundreds of thousands of already starving indigenes under a 24 hour curfew we’re killed in Atyab villages in Atyab Chiefdom.Zango Kataf Local Government Area in Southern part of Kaduna by Fulani militia.
It said” Prior to now, they were all shutdown with fierce armed military men patrolling and enforcing the 24-hour curfew.But when the gunmen struck, they were not on the ground.
“Four Atyab youths from Majuju, and Kibori villages who went to farm under the curfew were arrested by soldiers after being thoroughly beaten and handed over to the police who whisked them to SCID, Kaduna They have been denied bail since 28th June 2020.
” Last night,(Wednesday), around 11pm, truckloads of armed Fulani militia made their way through military checkpoints under the curfew and stormed Apiashyim and Kibori villages.They laid siege to Apiashyim, killing, looting and burning houses in the wake of the cruelty,they left six people dead, abd 20 houses burnt.
” In nearby Kibori village, seven persons were killed by the marauding, pampered Fulani militia.
“Around 12 am, they struck Atakmawei sleeping community and carried out another carnage after which 12 persons were killed and 10 houses burnt.
The statement further said that the attackers also visited Apyiako and Magamiya villages killed 8 persons in the two villages while several houses were burnt including the home of late Army colonel,Bobai Ishaku.
Wednesday”s attack was the latest in the serie Is of attacks launched by bandits on Southern Kaduna.
The attack generated condemnation by well meaning Nigerians and organisations.
Prominent among them are the Christian Association of Nigeria led by Yakubu Pam who had a dialogue with El,Rufai, the Kaduna State Governor on solution to the end of the conflicts.
Another group that expressed concern was the Northern government Forum,. The Forum said the persistent attacks on villages in the area, inspire of the efforts by the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to end the violence raises serious concern and condemnation.
Pandef,Afeinfere and Ohaneze groups have all spoken to condemn the attacks.
