Leader of Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau has reacted to the death sentence passed on to Nigerian singerYahaya Sharif-Aminu for blasphemy.
In a new audio released, Shekau said ” There is no difference between the blasphemer and those who sentenced him to death.,”
Sharif-Aminu a resident of Kano was sentenced to death by hanging on Monday by a Shari’a Court in Kano for blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed.
The Presiding Judge, Khadi Aliyu Kani had given the judgement that sentenced the singer to the gallows,a verdict that has drawn reactions across the country and other parts of the world.
Shekau’s condemnation of the ruling is the latest in the series of reactions trailing the judgement.
Church leader, Apostle Suleiman had publicly condemned the judgement seeing no reason why a man who only sang a song would be found guilty of blasphemy would be found guilty of blasphemy and should be sentenced to death while Insurgents who did terrible things are pardoned.
Some Nigerians see Shekau’s condemnation as ironic.
” This is the man leading Islamic extremism using violence means but ironically is the one condemning the brethren for carrying out the death sentence. What a drama!”
Others see blasphemy as a crime against, therefore it is battle between the offender and God.
” This man blasphemed against God,not man please allow God to fight for himself” .
