Two nursing mothers and their babies were among six people that were abducted by gunmen in a hotel in Damishi community,Chikun local government area in Sounthern Kaduna.
It was gathered that the gunmen numbering more than 30 , stormed the community on Wednesday night with AK47 rifles and proceeded to a hotel in the community and abducted the women and children.
The hotel is said to be a place where residents of the community usually take cover in the face of the spate of insecurity in the area.
The gunmen were said to have entered the hotel, knocked from room to room and kidnapped many people, most of them children under the age of ten.
According to reports, after the gunmen took their captives away from the hotel, they felt that the children were not moving fast enough for them to escape,so they released them and went with six women including the nursing mothers and their babies.
Southern Kaduna has been under frequent attack by bandits lately drawing groundswell condemnation against the evil acts of kidnapping, killing and destruction of properties in what is perceived as either an age- long crisis or simply ethnic cleansing.
A resident in the area was quoted as saying” Barely a week passes without somebody being abducted by gunmen in Damishi and neighbouring communites “
