As the West African Senior School Certificate Examination WASSCE enters fourth day in the country,it has been revealed that 7 students writing the examination have tested positive for Covid-19.
The students said to be from Government Girls College,Doma,Gombe State. tested positive for the virus after the government carried out tests on the final year students following their resumption to write the WASSCE..
The state commissioner for Education,Habu Dahiru who made this known to newsmen on Wednesday said the affected students would be moved to an isolation center where they will continue with their examination.
According to him, the government gave preference to students returning from epicenter states like Kaduna,Kano,Yobe and Lagos.
He said”So far we have tested 1 ,100 cases,out of which came the first case from Government Science Secondary School We have identified another set of students.We only got the results yesterday.”
“Seven of them have been found to test positive for the virus.We are making arrangements to evacuate them to the Isolation center”
“We quickly went to the school to identify the students and kept them aside”
