The Management of the Olabisi Obasanjo University Teaching Hospital,Sagamu,Ogun State,has ordered the shut down of its main laboratory for two weeks following rising covid cases affecting workers in the laboratory.
Fourteen out of sixteen persons working in the laboratory are said to have tested positive for coronavirus when they received the results of their covid test on Thursday.
Current matters gathered that no fewer than 34 laboratory workers in the hospital are affected by the virus including a family of four, the wife of a laboratory staff and his three children.
The State Commissioner for Health,Tomi Coker, confirmed the situation to newsmen but said that the number of those who tested positive for the virus, ,was private to the affected persons.
A laboratory worker had said on Wednesday that following the death of a staff of the department, the workers had been going for Covid-19 test to ascertain their status.
