Reports from Enugu reveal that several persons are feared dead following a bloody clash on Sunday morning in Emene between a combined team of security agents and members of the Indigenous people of Biafra.(IPOB)..
Eye witness said trouble started when some policemen stormed an IPOB gathering at Community Secondary School Emene and attempted to disorganise the gathering by making arrests
The Biafran agitators were said to have in their numbers, overpowered the security agents and went ahead to raid Emene police station.
Within no time, security operatives mobilised and arrived the scene with a dozen patrol vans loaded with armed men comprising police,army and DSS and turned their guns on the IPOB members.
As the battle raged on, sounds of gunfire and fumes from tewr gas filled the air in the area between St Patrick Secondary School and St Joseph Catholic Church in old Abakaliki road.
The premises of St Patrick Secondary School was said to be flowing with blood as fleeing IPOB members were pursued into the school.
The incident was said to have forced people who were on their to attend the 7am mass to run for their lives while those already in the church had to endure the pollution from the year gas fumes and the sounds of the guns.
It was gathered that security agents have flooded the community, restricting movement of persons and vehicles as they continue to search for IPOB members.
