Detectives from the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a young woman,Franca Udoukwu,30 for dumping her new born baby in a pit bathroom.
The detectives attached to the Ogidi division were said to have about 8.30 on Saturday morning, arrested the lady who hailed from Obuba Obofia Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
A statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed said the suspect was arrested following a tip off that she allegedly delivered a baby boy and dumped him in a pit bathroom at her home..
On interogation, the suspect,led the team of police detectives to the scene of the incident where the newborn was recovered and taken to Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital for medical examination but was confirmed dead by a doctor at the hospital.
Haruna said the corpse has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy and Investigation is ongoing after which the suspect will be charged.
