Angry youths of Kpakungun area of Minna, the Niger State capital on Monday reportedly blocked one of the major roads in Minna, the Niger State capital to protest the epileptic power supply in the state.
The aggrieved youths were also said to have sent away the Secretary to the State Government,Alhaji Ahmed Matane who appealed to them to open up the roads and stop the protest demanding that the governor, Abubakar Sani-Bello should show up and address them.
The youths who stated that they were tired of the incessant power supply further said that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company AEDC was taking residents for granted.
Current matters gathered that the blocked Kpakungun road is one of the most used roads in the state and also the only road that links the State to the southern part of the country.
A councilor representing Minna South Ward,Aminu Ladan while speaking with newsmen described the protest as peaceful and responsible.
According to him, the SSG was driven away in anger and the message he brought could not be passed as the people do not understand that the SSG is a representative of the governor but are demanding the presence of the governor
Passengers traveling to the south are being stranded as the youths have vowed to close the road for 24 hours until the governor shows up to address them.
