A self acclaimed clergyman,Uchenna Chukwuma 21, has been arrested by the police in Anambra for allegedly killing a 60 year old native doctor,Oliver Chukwudi Ugwu,in Umusiome Nkpor,on Thursday.
Spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, Haruna Mohammed, told reporters that men of the Ogidi divisional police station who were informed about the development immediately after the incident occurred , arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect.
On interogation, the suspect said he was sent by God to kill the native doctor as he ( native doctor) was disturbing him spiritually and retarding his financial progress.
Haruna said, the victim was rushed to the Iyi Enu hospital,Ogidi for medical attention where he was confirmed dead and his corpse deposited in a mortuary for autopsy.
The Police Spokesman said the machete used in the crime was recovered as an exhibit adding that the case has been transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
