
Two Pastors ,were on Thursday arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Gwagwalada,FCT, over alleged criminal breach of trust.
Joe Abraham,39, and Afolabi Michael,35 were charged with criminal consipracy,breach of trust and cheating by the Police .
The Prosecution Counsel,Dabo Yakubu, told the Court that the complainant,Sokwo Nyachi,who lives in Kwali,FCT had reported the matter at Gwagwalada Area Command on July 29, that the first defendant,(Abraham) deceived him into believing that he had a prophecy for him over his business.
According to him,he(1st defendant) asked him to sow his Toyota Corolla 2003 as a seed, promising him that after one week,he would see miracles in his business.
The Prosecution Counsel alleged that after one week, the complainant did not see any improvement as promised.
He said the car was later given to the second defendant (Michael) of Lokoja,Kogi State,who in turn sold the car to one Yusuf,a mechanic in Lokoja for N550,000
The offence he said, contravened the provisions of sections,96,311 and 320 of the Penal Code.
The defendants however, pleaded not guilty to the charges
The defence counsel,Albert Ad’jembi prayed the court to grant the defendants bail citing section 162 and 163 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act to support his demand for bail adding that the claims before the court were mere allegations that needed to be proven.
The Magistrate,Yusuf Ibrahim,admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with one surety each in one sum who must be ready to forfeit the bail bond via an affidavit if the defendants jump bail.
Ibrahim said the defendants must submit a print out of their Bank Verification Number and adjourned the case to October 7 for hearing.
