Uneasy calm , palpable fear and panic have descended on residents of Uzaku, Okohia Owaza and Imo river towns in Abia State following the killing of two men of the Nigerian Army by bandits
The bandits reportedly opened fire at Army checkpoint along Okohia to Owaza road, killing the two soldiers on the spot.
A fleeing resident in his sixties, who encountered our reporter said the Nigerian Army had launched an offensive against Owaza and other communities where the killing of its menl took place and some youths were arrested and tiortured while the villages are deserted.
According to him, men,women,children and old people are fleeing to neighbouring towns and villages through bushes in the rains for fear of being attacked by the Army and they do not not know when the situation would normalize for them to return home.
