The Wakirike be se (sons and daughters of Okrika nationality) resident in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja on Monday evening 21st September 2020 organized a reception for the newly consecrated Bishop of the Diocese of Okrika, The Rt. Revd. Enoch Atuboyedia and his predecessor in office, The Rt. Revd. Tubokosemie Robinson Abere (JP)
The event , according to a statement issued by Charles Ogan was attended by the Chancellor of the Diocese Hon. Justice Sika H. Aprioku (KSC), wife of Hon. Justice Ebeku of the Rivers state Judiciary, Dame Bella Ebeku, Chief Oke-Opuso, Dr Tammy Wakama, lecturer at university of Abuja Medical school and Consultant at National Hospital, other prominent indigenes and non-indigenes of Okrika including politicians, professionals, Top Federal Civil Servants and Delegates to the General Synod of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion holding in Abuja.
In the statement, the President of Okrika Community in Abuja Jinyebarimiema Eli Abibo Esq was quoted as saying that the event was put together to identify with the church in Okrika over the remarkable achievement.
He said Okrika indigenes in Abuja were happy over the choice and consecration of The Rt. Revd. Enoch Atuboyedia, noting that the creation of the Diocese of Okrika in 2003 has helped to promote peace and unity in Okrika community.
Several speakers at the event praised the new Bishop and urged him to remain a beaming light of Christianity in every Okrika community.
In his vote of thanks, the Chancellor Hon. Justice Sika Henry Aprioku on behalf of the Diocese commended the Okrika Community in Abuja for putting out such an impressive event at short notice. He noted that for them to remember the contributions of the retired Bishop was remarkable indeed.
Highlights of the occasion included praise songs and prayers, tributes, dinner and presentation of Gifts to the retired Bishop, Rt. Revd. Tubokosemie Abere and his successor Rt. Revd. Enoch Atuboyedia.
