The National Assembly will resume on Tuesday, after nearly 3 months on vacation.
Already ,the Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt.Hon.Femi Gbajabiamala,has inspected the newly installed digital system in the house chamber ahead of the plenary session in the National Assembly.
The resumption of the National Assembly comes amidst growing national problems ranging from increase in electricity tarriffs, petrol pump prices covid-19 pandemic
to instituted corruption and insecurity.
The Assembly will also look into the Water Resources Bill, the Petroleum Industry Bill as well as the Electoral Act .
A few Nigerians who spoke to current matters said the earlier the lawmakers swung into action to address the burning issues, the better for the country.
Emeka Azubuike,a medical officer who spoke to current matters said,”We trust that the National Assembly will do the needful and avert looming crisis in the country”.
” I don’t earn up to N400.OOO, but after buying fuel for my car which is double the rate I used to buy it and then pay electricity bill which is outrageous, we do not have enough to eat and do other things”.
He said” the country is on a keg of gunpowder and we hope that our legislators will not betray the confidence we have in them”
Mary ,a grade level 8 civil servant said “Everything in the market has gone up. Beans that we used to buy four N350 per mudu is now N450.
“Why should government give us N30,000 minimum wage and take it through the back door?
“Do they feel what we feel? we are just managing to feed with our children,any day we see garri we drink.But is it what those Ministers, Assembly people and people in the villa suffer? What of those who are working in oil companies? Is their market different from our own?” She asked.
