Former Head of State,, Abdulsalami Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to pursue the part of unity and shun disintegration in view of lessons from the past.
According to him, there are dissenting voices across geo-political zones pushing for disintegration for reasons bothering on equity and justice for their tribes with no one thinking about the country.
Abubakar who was speaking on television said while some nigerians generally in one way or the other are learning from mistakes of the past,” some try to implement what has been learnt, others are throwing caution to the dogs.
“You will find that there is a lot of agitation in the country, everybody wants to go out, There is Arewa consultative Forum, thinking of Arewa, there is Afeinfere thinking of the Yoruba nation, there is IPOB thinking about Biafra nation, there are agitations for Urhobo nation,Ijaw nation and so on.So you can now see we are now slipping back.
“We are not thinking about Nigeria,We are thinking about our tribes people think they have been marginalised, people think there is no equity no justice.and they think by trying to come out they will now carve an empire for themselves,a nation where they think there will be equity and justice which they feel is being denied them in the nation of Nigeria.
