A herdsman,Umar Sha’aibu was Thursday sentenced to six months imprisonment by an Upper Area Court in Zuba Abuja, for allowing his cows to stray into the Abuja airport.
Sha’aibu,a resident of Bassa village,Abuja was charged with criminal trespass on aerodrome by the police.
The Police prosecutor, Chinedu Ogada, had told the Court that Sha’aibu was arrested by the Aviation security and handed over to the police on October 7.
Ogada said that about 5:a,m, the convict deliberately trespassed into the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
According to him, the herdsman entered the airport through gate 1, with his cattle with intention to commit an offence adding that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 473 of the Penal Code.
The Judge,Gambo Garba, sentenced Sha’aibu to six months in prison after he pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
Garba however,gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N30,000 and urged him to stay away from crime
