The Security Committee of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) headed by the Minister, Muhammed Musa Bello, has banned EndSARS and other forms of street protest and processions in the FCT .
The announcement was made during a security meeting of Bello with Heads of military formation and other security agencies in the FCT as well as Permanent Secretary FCTA ,Council Chairmen and representatives of traditional and religious institutions.
The ban followed the demonstratiion against police brutality which entered its ninth day on Thursday.
On Wednesday, there were reports of attacks on protesters at the Berger area which left many vehicles destroyed and some persons injured.
A statement released by the security commitee, noted that despite the announcement banning SARS by the Inspector General of Police, the EndSARS protests continue.
The statement said that though it recognised the rights of citizens to associate and move freely, the conduct and crowd control leaves much to be desired as the demonstrations were carried out in complete violation of the Covid-19 protocols thus endangering the lives of the protesters and other residents of the territory.
Meantime the protests are ongoing in Lagos,Awka, Kaduna and other cities featuring EndSARS and messages of Insecurity.
