Friends, Family and well-wishers far and near celebrated Senator, Bassey Otu, a political icon,an advocate for a Niger Delta President,a voice for peace and betterment of Cross Rivers,the Niger Delta and indeed Nigeria, as he clocked 61 today, Sunday October 18,2020.
Senator Bassey, represented Cross Rivers South in the Senate of the 7th Assembly. ,The distinguished Senator had also represented his constituency in the House of Representatives.
Senator Otu who served his people to a height of envy was celebrated in churches and Local Government Areas he represented.
An obviously overjoyed Senator and Prince of Efik and Efut of Adiabo Okurikang in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross Rivers State told current matters that he has never seen this show of love before.
Asked by Current matters what he did for the people that has caused so much excitement He said,
“My tenure was lively .I made sure that I gave the people proper representation.very very far from what Iam seeing today.I gave people a lot of opportunities which was well taken.I gave them a sense of belonging.No regrets whatsoever.I cannot pour encomiums on myself but I think the legacies I left behind speak for themselves.
On his impression about the governance and ongoing #EndSars protests, Senator Otu said, he believed that the government is trying its best but said government needed some time to sort out the demands of the protesters in view of the fact that some of the demands borthering on Police brutality had been taken care of by the governmen

” I believe that the government is trying its best.Its just that the mess we found ourselves was such that we needed some time and if for whatever reason there is a demonstration called #EndSars and they have asked the government to do some things and the government has followed suit, I believe it is time to
let government settle down and make those reforms’
Senator who said his new age was the making of the grace of God, described family as the nucleus of foundation of what existence should be.
He traced the problems of society to dysfunction of the family and thanked God for giving him a very functional and wonderful family adding that he is blessed with a very faithful, ,God fearing and a virtuous go wife and lovely children who were brought up on the foundation of discipline,love,care and trust in God.
