The Nigerian Army says its annual end of year exercise, Crocodile Smile will begin from October 20 to December 31 ,2020.
A statement released by Colonel Sagir Musa, Acting Director, Army Public Relations on Saturday, said the exercise, Crocodile Smile VI is deliberately intended to be all encompassing to include cyber warfare exercises designed to identify,track and counter negative propaganda in the Governor Oyetola says attack on him was politically motivated media and across the cyberspace.
The Cyberwarfare exercise said to be the first ever to be conducted in the history of the African Armed Forces will also include positive identification component aimed at identifying Boko Haram terrorists fleeing from the North East and other parts of the country as a result of the ongoing operations in the various theatres of operations especially in the North East, North Central and North Western parts of Nigeria.
The statement assured all well meaning Nigerians of its commitment to the sustenance of peace and security in Nigeria and urges members of the public for their support and understanding throughout the period of the exercise..
The launch of operation Crocodile Smile VI comes at a time of nation-wide protest against police brutality and demand for justice, equity and good governance.
The protests tagged# EndSARS had listed a number of demands in its agenda for government to meet.
Last week, reports of hacking of National Communication Commission!,NCC) and Central Bank of Nigeria( CBN) sites made headlines with so called anonymous group threatening to do more.
While the NCC admitted that its site was hacked but reclaimed it, the CBN denied the claim describing the hack on its site as false.
However, the commencement of operation Crocodile Smile which is said to be all encompassing leaves no one in doubt about the next level of focus and progress in the weeks ahead.
