The Edo State Police Command has re-arrested ten inmates of the Benin Medium Correctional Center and Oko Medium Correctional Center Benin who broke jail two weeks ago
Six of the inmates were re-arrested for alleged armed robbery while one was arrested when he tried to kill the prosecution witness in his case.
Some of those re-arrested for robbery Abraham Mathew ,Eddy Favour, and Patrick Eguavoen were said to have stolen a Lexus saloon car ES 330 with registration number Abuja KWL 205 AZ, after escaping from prison and were arrested at the point of selling the car at Igueben. while one of the suspected robbers, Henry Atadi reportedly snatched a Lexus SUV after the jail break ,an accusation he denied.
The State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo who disclosed this while parading 126 suspects arrested for various offences said 28 of the suspects were arrested for looting Nigeria Customs Service Warehouse, while 46 were apprehended for looting Central Medical Warehouse.
He said 13 were arrested for looting a private warehouse (Olam) 16 for raiding Blessed Doris-Dey warehouse also in Benin.
However, some of those arrested for stealing Covid-19 palliatives denied looting but said they were arrested for violating curfew imposed by the government.
