Residents in Rivers groan as food scarcity hit the state and prices of foodstuff go up following attacks on muslim northerners by suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB in the region.
The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike had reinforced the federal government ban on IPOB.The governor had also signed an executive order to strengthen the proscription, however it seems the group still poses a great threat to suppliers of foods coming into the state.
In the midst of the food scarcity is the threat by major suppliers of foodstuff, The Arewa Consultative Forum ( ACF) that it would no longer supply food to Rivers State and other states in the South as their lives are in great danger due to frequent attacks on northerners by people suspected to be members of IPOB.
In the wake of the#EndSARS protest hijacked by hoodlums, those supplying foodstuff from the north were attacked and some of their trucks set ablaze by IPOB . Chairman of ACF Rivers State, Usman Ibrahim has said.
