The Nineteen Northern Governors under the aegis of Northern Governors Forum on Monday ,met with stakeholders in Kaduna go further discuss on how the issues raised by the#EndSARS protesters in the North could be addressed.
The Chairman of the Forum,Governor Simon Lalong said if attempts were not made to address the issues,a second wave of the protest is inevitable and might also be hijacked by hoodlums with dare consequences.
Lalong who spoke to the media after the meeting said the meeting which is a continuation of their resolve to cement existing gaps between leaders and the led had set up two committees Youth and Civil Society to interface with the Youths and the second is the role of the Traditional rulers and Religious leaders who would also continually engage the youths.
According to him, the meeting apart from coming up with a communique on continuous engagement with the yourhs and finding solution to the#EndSARS issues also deliberated key areas that expands the responsibilities of the traditional rulers to include administration, interfacing and especially issues of security on behalf of the government as it was in the old northern region.
In line with that,we are making preparation to propose an amendment to the constitution because constitution amendment is already going on That is why the Senate President is there, Deputy Speaker is there and also other members of the National Assembly who are from the North.
