The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU has said it would not be subdued into submitting to the federal government’s manouvering calculated at stiring up hunger and starvation to cripple members of the union who are not relenting in achieving the objectives of the Industrial action.
The Union through its Kano Zonal Coordinator, Professor Mahmud Lawan, accused Buhari’s government of being irresponsible and insensitive to the educational sector.
Lawan said the nation’s universities thrived on TEETFUND interventions which is a testament of the monumental failure on the part of government.
The University don told newsmen at BUK secretariat of ASUU that Nigerian Universities had yet to receive any intervention since 2014 when the Jonathan’s administration released N200billion to them.
Lawan also knocked the Minister of Education, that of Lanour and Productivity and Office of the Accountant General of being responsible for the impasse .
He expressed regret that the Accountant General’s office had been used to frustrate all previous agreements between the Union and the Federal Government adding that ASUU had continually struggle for the survival of public universities.
