The United Nations Deputy Secretary-General,Amina Mohammed has taken a tour of Banki,a border community in Borno State to assess governmentt responses to the humanitarian crisis in the northeast with the aim of directing appropriate priorities
Muhammed , a former Minister of Environment said the visit was to have a first hand knowledge of how the UN collaboration with the Borno State was doing in meeting the needs of the Internally Displayed Persons (IDP) in the area of resettlement and reintegration .
She noted that the camps she visited were overcrowded and interactions with the IDPS indicated their desperate desire to return home
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum who accompanied Muhammed on the visit said his government is working with the federal government to begin the repatriation of citizens from Cameroon by December 5. adding that peace is gradually being restored and most displaced people are requesting to return home.
