Lagos State Government has announced closure of Rail level crossing from November 15 ,2020.
The announcement followed the ongoing Nigerian Railway Modernization Project at the Lagos-Ibadan Section with an extension to Lagos Port,Apapa.
This was disclosed in a statement on Friday, by the Assistant Director of Public Affairs Unit at the State Ministry of Transportation,Bolanle Ogunlola.
According to the statement, the level crossing will begin with Ilupeju route on November 15, Ogunmokun, November 16, as well as Jibowu and Yaba, November 18, from 8pm to 7am each day.
The statement said the phase of construction work on the designated routes would focus on track stress dispersion and locking at various level crossing joints of the Standard Gauge Railway.
The ministry has therefore provided alternative routes for motorists.
It advised motorists plyiing Ilupeju level crossing to divert to Ogunmokun, Yaba and Jibowu to accept access their destinations.while those who are using areas around Ogunmokun are advised to access Ilupeju crossing to Mushin,Oshodi and Surulere adding that the alternative routes will be used interchangeably.
