An outbreak of Yellow Fever has been confirmed in three moreLocal Government Areas of Enugu State.
They are Nsukka,Isi-Uzo and Igbo-Etiti.
The Commissioner of Health,Dr Emmanuel Obi who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday evening ,said while efforts are ongoing to control the outbreak of the disease in Igbo-Eze North lga, reports have also been received of strange deaths, within communites in Nsukka,Isi-Uzo and Igbo-Etiti lgas
Obi stated that the state Ministry of Health Rapid Response Team,LGA Rapid Response Teams, International and National patners have visited the affected LGAS to investigate the reports and take samples for testing.
According to him, the samples collected from the LGAS have been sent to the National Reference Laboratory at the Federal Capital Territory Abuja ,for a thorough and complete examination to determine the reasons for the new set of reports adding that the resuits are expected back early this week.
“Yellow Fever is transmitted through mosquito bites and vaccination is not for treatment,It is for prevention of Yellow Fever he said.
