The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has said that the Ebonyi State governor,Dave Umahi has the right to be a president as he has what it takes to vie for it but doing so on the alter of blackmail of his former party against the people of the South East is very wrong.
Wike on National Television (Channels) ,said “what Umahi has done today has nailed him politically as the politics of Nigeria is not the same as the politics of iEbonyi State.”
He added that the issue of Presidency is intriguing, saying ” the more you look the less you see”
Governor Umahi formerly announced his defection to the All Progressives Party Monday night ,in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital where he attributed his defection to injustice meted to the South East region over the years by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
The governor said since the inception of the civilian administration in 1999, the PDP had neglected the South East region on issue of Presidency and said he would continue to bring the matter to the fore.
Umahi had told journalists that there was no personal ambition tied to his defection as the APC has made no such promise to him and said he had no regrets for his decision to join the APC.
