A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Wednesday, issued a warrant of arrest on Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team.
The court’s order followed Maina’s absence in court for the fourth time to stand trial in the alleged N2billion fraud charges brought against him by the federal government.
The trial Judge, Justice Okon Abang ordered security agents in the country to arrest Maina anywhere he is found and present him to the court to face the consequences of jumping bail.
Earlier, counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Muhammed Abubakar had told the court that Maina could not be located as efforts to get him to attend his trial proved abortive.
Abubakar said that Maina was absent in court for the fourth time and prayed the court to revoke the bail granted him so that he could be arrested and made to face trial.
Consequently, Justice Abang revoked Maina’s bail and gave his surety, Senator Ali Ndume till November 23 to show why he should not forfeit the N500million bail bond to the federal government due to Maina’s absence in court and adjourned the trial to November 23,2020.
