Wike imposes 24 hour curfew over cult activities,vows tougher measures for defaulters
The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has imposed a 24 hour curfew on parts of Obio Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The curfew which will last for two weeks will affect areas around Okoro-nodu flyover up to one kilometer radius from Saint Emmanuel Anglican Church, Rumuokoro extending to the Rumuodomaya Slaughter and Local Government daily market.
Wike in a broadcast on Sunday evening said the curfew is with effect from Monday,23 November,2020.
The governor stated that all forms of trading, human and vehicular movement are prohibited within the restricted areas until further notice adding that only staff and vehicles belonging to Julius Berger Nigeria LTD are exempted from the curfew.
On account of this,he has directed security agencies to enforce strict compliance with the curfew, arrest and prosecute any person,trader and vehicle that violates the governmentt order.
Wike vowed that anyone who disturbs the peace and security in Rivers neighbourhoods wouldl be dealth with while warning that community leaders allowing cultism and unrest to thrive in their domains would be treated as collaborators and be made to face the consequences
