A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that Senator Ali Ndume be remanded in Kuje Correctional Center for failing to produce Abdulrasheed Maina,former chairman of the defunct Pension Task Team.
Ndume who represents Borno South in the 9th Senate stood as surety for Maina’s bail and could not produce Maina in court for the five consecutive time.
Maina was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC over N2billion money laundering allegations.
The Court presided over by Justice Okon Abang ordered Ndume’s remand pending the fulfilment of his N500million bail bond.
The court also asked the federal government to sell Ndume’s property at Asokoro to recover the N500million bond
Ndume would be released from Kuje only when he is able to pay the N500million or if the prosecutor is able to dispose of the property and payment made to the federal government.
Justice Abang afterwards adjourned Maina’s trial which is holding in absensia to November 24,2020.
