
The Senator representing Borno South, Senator Ali Ndume has regained freedom after five days in Kuje prison , Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) Abuja.
The Senator was remanded by a Federal High Court in Abuja on.MondayNovember23,2020 ,following his inability to produce Abdulrasheed Maina whom he stood as surety for in alleged N2BILLION pension fraud
The court had ordered his detention in the correctional center pending the fulfilment of his bail bond which is a forfeiture of N500 million to the federal government or sale of his property in Asokoro to recover the bail bond.
Maina who is notorious for being declared wanted jumped bail as he did not appear in court for more than four times, paving the way for his trial in absentia.
Trial Judge, Justice Okon Abang had directed that the Senator will be released only when he is able to meet fulfill the bail bond forfeiture.
Abang however, granted Ndume bail on Friday, saying the decision was based on the senator’s record of good behavior in court .
