Transportation Minister breaks silence on agitation for restructructing , reveals most important problems
The Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, has identified Hunger and Poverty as more important for the federal government to urgently address than agitation for restructuring.
The former governor of Rivers State said though the call for restructuring was not out of place, the most critical problems in the country remained Hunger and Poverty which are responsible for Insecurity in the country.
Amaechi said that reducing the twin problem of hunger and poverty was more of great corncern to the Buhari government as he believed that creating jobs and putting food in the hands of people will keep them away from acts that breach security of lives and properties.
The Minister who disclosed this in a Channels Television programme ( SundayPolitics) in response to questions on the federal government delegation’s visit to Rivers State from which restructuring resonated, said
” Once you create employment,you create security,If you like hire as many men as you want to hire that are policemen, you would do nothing until you put food in the hands of people adding When you do not create a legitimate economy, the people will create for themselves an illegitimate economy and be able to feed themselves”
A recent report of the National Bureau of Statistics said over 82 million Nigerians are extremely poor.

Poverty is a state or condition of lack in financial resources and essentials for a minimum standard of living,
