Nigerian Governors react to Borno Killings as many Nigerians vent anger on Military, Buhari
The Nigerian Governors Forum( NGF) has described Saturday’s killing of rice farmers in Borno State as” morally reprehensible”
In a statement on Sunday in Abuja, The Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Ekiti State,Kayode Fayemi said “the attack brought back ugly memories of several dastardly attacks on soft targets in the state and said that” the catalogue of destruction had an adverse effect on everything in the state and the country at large”
He noted that the farmers were attacked while working on the farms totally oblivious of the danger that laid ahead of them as he expressed concern of the NGF over the spate of killing in the state.
According to the governor, The “sad narrative raises serious questions on the general security situation in the country and around the capability of the nation’s security architecture. It also raises questions on whether or not there are adequate arrangements to protect lives and property.”
He added that the Forum would collectively review the security situation in its next meeting.
Some other Nigerians have also condemned the killing and queried the capacity of the Military and the governmentt in protecting lives and property.
Others see the Boko Haram killing of innocent citizens as “cowardly and wicked “and said that the Federal Government has not done enough in tackling insecurity.
According to them,” government only has time and energy to expend on #EndSARS protesters while keeping mum on Boko Haram bloody adventures in the North East”
