Leader of the All Progressives Congress ( APC )in Zamfara State,Abdul’Aziz Yari says APC might pull out of the Bakura state constituency byelection rescheduled for Wednesday, December 9,2020 If its claim of political rascality of the ruling PDP was not contained.
Alleging compromise of security personnel with the government and members of the National Assembly from the state to manipulate the election, Yari, a former governor of Zamfara state told journalists after a meeting of APC stakeholders at his Talata Mafara town residence that if adequate arrangements were not put in place to guarantee security of its members, the party will not hesitate to back off.
But in a swift reaction, the Zamfara government dismissed the APC threat of pulling out of the Byelection describing it as a face saving measure in the face of the monumental defeat that awaits them .
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Zailani Bappa who disclosed this to current matters said the PDP hopes to clinch landslide victory when the rerun holds which is why the opposition party don’t want to take part in the election He said the governor, Bello Matawalle need not involve in irregularities to win the Bakura state constituency as he won the constituency previously and represented the people as a PDP member when the state was under the administration of the APC .
” ‘The APC’s threat is a cover up to gracefully save the remnant of their battered pride as they face a fatal blow when the rerun holds.”
“INEC cancelled 14 of our stronghold polling units, yet ,we led by 2,180 votes.Hence the inconclusive. The rerun will surely widen the margin to a landslide. That is why they are not keen to participate”
“Governor Matawalle does not need to rig in Bakura because in 2011,at a time when the governor, all Senators and Reps members were APC,He was the only PDP in Reps and he won the seat representing Bakura/Maradun.”
