Youths in Rukpoku and Rumuodomaya communities in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State are currently embroiled in violent protests following the killing of a commercial tricylist popularly known as (Keke)
Sources in the area said trouble started on Thursday morning when a policeman around Rukpoku asked the Keke driver for N100 bribe which the driver could not provide.
The trigger happy policeman rather than allow reason to prevail,,fired a shot at the driver killing him on the spot.
The death of the tricylist provoked the Youths and other members of the community and spontaneously sparked violence protest in the area.
The protest in Rukpoku snowballed into full blown riot and spread to neighbouring Rumuodomaya community.
The source said the issue has developed into a full scale confrontation between the Yourhs and the police adding that one other person has also been shot dead.
