Armed thugs on Monday morning stormed Arewa House, Kaduna where a meeting of Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) was holding and unleashed violence on those attending the meeting.
The meeting which was attended by Northern stakeholders including retired military and police officers, religious leaders , traditional rulers and women groups was organised to discuss the security challenges of Northern Nigeria.
A statement by the group’s spokesman, Abdulaziz Suleiman, said that the “meeting aimed to achieve synergy between communites and government security and design a uniform approach to the current security situation in the North .
According to him, while the meeting was going on,a group of armed thugs numbering hundreds gained access into the Arewa House auditorium after overpowering the security guards outside and unleashed terror on those attending the meeting, smashing vehicles and glasses as well.
The coalition fingered beneficiaries of Insecurity in the north to be behind the attack.
They wondered how a large group of armed youths would travel through central Kaduna to Arewa House and attack innocent people without the security agencies confronting them.
