Nigerian Muslims react to claims by Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau that the sect abducted the Kankara college students to discourage un-Islamic practices.
Shekau had in a viral video justified the action saying it was done to promote Islam as Western Education is not the type of education permitted by Allah and his Holy Prophet . The terroriss leader also claimed content was destroying Islam, and” Allah knows whatever is hidden,May Allah promote Islam,May we die as Muslims” he said.
A few minutes after the video went viral, Nigerians reacted to Shekau’s claim, describing the Boko Haram terrorists sect as mentally deranged.
Muhammad, a muslim and a resident of the Federal Capital Territory who spoke to current matters said there was no reason by the terrorist to justify the abduction of the school children.
He said if Shekau claimed that Western Education is anti-muslim,then why is he using the internet,telephones,Ak-47 , vehicles which are all creation of Western Education.?
“Shekau should go and read the Koran very well.The very chapter revealed to Prophet Mohammed was”Read in the name of your Lord read” That was the very first statement,divine statement from God to Prophet Mohammed.The second thing is that almost every chapter of Islam is a reference to go and read.It even says “Go and seek knowledge even if you have to go as far as China”.
“So this people are not Islamic people, they are bandits, criminals and blood thirsty people and there is nothing associating them with Islam.
“Shekau should be asked why he is using the internet because Internet is a product of Western Education.So h should not use Internet. He should not use Internet, he should not use Ak- 47. He should not wear uniform,he should just stay as a primitive man in the bush. He should not disturb people’s lives.He is just using Islam for his selfish and personal ends and should be discountenanced.
” In any case, where is he? Let him come out and say it if he is a man,not to hide in the bush and sending messages through the internet and be saying nonsense about western education is good or not He is just a bandit,a terrorist” he declared.
“And he must be eliminated from the face of this earth because he is one of the people bringing Nigeria down.
“If he is justifying the abduction of some young boys who have gone to school to better their lives for the future, where in the verse of Islam was it stated that Western Education is un-Islamic? The internet we use today is part of Islamic mathematical algorism. Algorism is a name of an Arab man called Algoris.Chemistry is derived from an Arab man called Alchemy.
“He is just talking nonsense If he does not want to go to to school,let him remain in the bush and should not stop other people who go to school.That should be the message given to them.”
People went to school and used their creativity to make these things for us to use. Now he is saying people should not go to school. Does he not know that among those kids there might be somebody who can discover something tommorow that can better our lives?And people are allowing to say nonsense.What kind of nonsense is that? Why even give him publicity?
Suleiman, another muslim lamented Shekau’s claim saying it goes to show the level of degeneration of core values in the society.
He said”Shekau or whatever is name is a coward who should not have been given a breathing space at all.
“Why are the authorities given Shekau and his co-travellers a space to breathe.” Why can’t they finish this Boko Haram people and their sponsors once and for all?
Shekau has relatives,let the military go after them to send him a clear message.Why should poor and innocent people be kidnapped and killed How many rich people and politicians has Boko Haram killed? We have not received report of such yet. Shekau himself is from a poor home so why is he attacking poor people? Is that what Islam taught him?
” He uses the technology of Western Education so why is he trying to stop children from improving their lives?
“Does Islam and the Holy Prophet ask him to terrororise people on the basis that Western Education is bad? I blame the government for not doing enough to rid Shekau and others.he said.
