U.S warns citizens on widespread crime in Nigeria
The United States Mission in Nigeria has warmed its citizens planning to travel to Nigeria of the prevalence of crime in the country.
In a new security alert posted on its website, the US Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General Lagos stated that”Crime is endemic throughout Nigeria ranging from petty street crime to carjacking and crime levels tend to increase during the holidays”.
The mission further stated that”Demonstrations are relatively common place in Nigeria and generally affect traffic flow, especially if they progress along major thoroughfares.
It said “Criminals and other elements often infiltrate large gatherings “adding “shopping centres, airports,hotels,clubs, restaurants,places of worship, transportation hubs, street markets, and other public venues frequented by Westerners are common attack targets”
