Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has closed his alleged certificate forgery case brought against him by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Governor opened his defense on Tuesday with 3 witnesses from Edo and the University of Ibadan.
They are Charity Aguobawekhina, Chairman Edo State Law Reform Commission,Abayomi Ajayi, Deputy Registrar (Legal) University of Ibadan, and Eghosa Emmanuel, Professor of Comparative Politics, University of Ibadan.
The witnesses attested to the originality of the certificates tendered by the governor.
Obaseki who was re-elected governor on the PDP platform was before then, disqualified by electoral officials of his former party, the All Progressives Congress ( APC) on the grounds of discrepancies in his certificates in a manner that suggested his former boss, predecessor and former National Chairman of the APC,Adams Oshiomole wanted a pound of flesh from him to settle old scores and push him into poltical oblivion
His pact with his new party , the PDP, gave him another opportunity to govern the state with the alleged certificate forgery by the APC further trailing his second term .
However ,with the dust appearing to be settled on the matter, Obaseki can now heave a sigh of relief and focus on governance.
