
The Federal Government has released N10BN to support domestic vaccines for prevention of Covid-19 in the country.
This was made known by the Minister of Health,Dr Osagie Ehanire at the Presidential Task Force PTF on Covid-19 briefing in Abuja on Monday.
Enahire said while the Ministry of Finance has released funds for production of domestic vaccines, the government is not leaving out options for exploring licenced productions in collaboration with recognised institutions.
He advised Nigerians to shun claims by individuals that they have Covid-19 vaccines for sale describing such claims as criminal.He added the vaccine acquisition and use required appropriate procedures, regulation and certification by the National Agency For Food and Drugs Administration (NAFDAC).
According to the Minister, there has been a steady rise in the number of new infections as samples tested in the last one week showed 20 percent positivity rate which means that one out of every five persons tested positive for the virus.
